Link a Jira epic to an existing Bamboo branch

Is there way to link a JIRA epic to an existing branch (I would like to see this dependency in both Bitbucket and Bamboo)? I can only create a new branch, and I don't really want to do that.

No, but why would like you link an epic to a branch? 

Typically an epic has multiple tickets/bugs and branches, not a single branch.

It is an epic related to a research feature and it has a branch. Its small enough for now to have only one branch. But the same can be applied to issues. I can't link them to an existing branch, only create a new one.
