Currently we have a license for Jira + Jira Agile and we want to upgrade the application to the latest version. However as these have been buddled into Jira Software, what is the implication of renewing the license before the renewal date and do i need to renew to get the latest version of the application and the add-on.
If i have to renew, will it be at 50%
Hi Brett,
If you renew your license after JIRA Software is released, you'll automatically be given a JIRA Software license (not a JIRA license). Your JIRA Software license will work with both JIRA and JIRA Agile. (In other words, you can paste the JIRA Software license into the license box for JIRA Agile if needed). JIRA Software licenses are backward-compatible to JIRA 5.2 and later. For information about compatibility between licenses and applications, see the JIRA license compatibility matrix.
Your bill will reflect that you're using JIRA Software (even if you haven't upgraded the application yet). In order to make sure you have time to review these changes, we're turning off auto-renew for customers without Starter licenses (a user tier higher than 10). You can turn auto-renew back on through your my.atlassian.com account.
For more information, check out Licensing changes.
Regards,
Kelly
Thank you for the response.
Currently we hold a Jira + Jira Agile license until August this year.
What I am interested in is whether we can move to Jira 7.0 without incurring additional cost. initially. In August we will renew the maintenance licence?

You're fine - your licence covers you for any version released before it expires. If Atlassian release version 8.0 in September this year, you'll be able to upgrade to that (at no cost, other than performing the upgrade and training users)
