Allow Service Desk Team members to save filtered eazyBI Report in Dashboards

Melissa Martin March 28, 2019

In order to make our Jira reporting scaleable, I created a series of reports in eazyBI that have a set of filters (e.g., Region, Country, etc.). I want Service Desk Team members to be able to add my eazyBI reports as gadgets in a Jira Dashboard, filter the report as needed, and Save it (see snapshot below).

It appears if I create a Dashboard and insert an eazyBI report I created, I can filter and Save it and it will stay. However, I am unsure if others will be able to so if they are not the report creator. We also do not want to make all Service Desk Team members eazyBI report admins.

  1. Is this possible?
  2. If not, what are some alternative solutions I can look into

Thanks!

Hi,

Maybe adding the EazyBI reports a Jira dashboard instead and assigning the relevant users to be the dashboard owner will help here... If you need to make a bunch of people the owners of the dashboard you should search for an app that extends this ability, like

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1216199/shared-ownership-for-dashboards-filters?hosting=server&tab=overview

Cheers,

Yeah the problem is it's not scaleable for me to create all these dashboards for teams either, so looking for a solution where they can use the eazyBI reports I created as a foundation and to be able to filter down and save these into their own dashboards without me needing to personally create them all.

If you assign those users to the User permission in eazyBI than you can create one generic dashboard with global filter and publish it to all users. In that case every time the user opens the dashboard he would need to choose the relevant values from the filter.

If this is not good enough, the other solution I can think of is creating separate accounts where you do allow specific users to be Report admins. You can publish your reports by copy&pasting the definitions from your (master) account to all other accounts. Your account will be protected and other accounts will be like "slave" accounts.

We have recently talked to the CEO of eazyBI and explained the need in creating a way of sharing reports/dashboards between accounts. He understands the need and has agreed to consider this ability in the near future versions.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Melissa Martin ,

One other solution could be adding all the reports to an eazyBI dashboard and defining the pages filters from the reports as common filters for the eazyBI dashboard.

Then you could try to embed the eazyBI dashboard as an iframe element. The teams could then add the "selected_pages" option to define the filters relevant to each team. Finally they could embed the eazyBI dashboard with selected filters in the Jira dashboard via the "Text" gadget.

Kind regards,
