Burndown Chart not showing completed issues

Charlie Smith June 5, 2019 edited

I am trying to review a Burndown Chart and have noticed on all of our sprints, the Burndown Chart isn't 'burning down'.

Column Settings:

Workflow:

If anyone could help, that'd be great. I have a read through multiple articles/questions etc. and I can't see what I'm doing wrong

Could you show us the current sprint board data?  (feel free to blur out summary/description text, we're interested in column content, not the individual issues)

Also, what are your estimation points?  Estimates, Story points or another numeric field?

Charlie Smith June 5, 2019

Hello Nic,

Sure, we are using the 'Original Estimate' field and estimating in time.

If I have blurred out too much, please let me know :)

That was a perfect picture, thank you.

There are three things left before I am stuck.

  1. The issues on display in the done column have icons of a red square with a hole, or a green one with a flag - can you confirm that both of these issue types are not sub-task types?  They are the default icons for Bug and Story which are not sub-tasks, but we need to check you have not re-used the icons for sub-tasks
  2. Can you confirm you've got three completed sprints from this board before this one?  (The name strongly implies you do, but sometimes people move to new boards in the middle of a naming scheme)
  3. (Don't bother with this if point 1 is confirmed) - at a quiet time for the project, could you try re-indexing the project?

Hello Nic, thank you for coming back to me.

1. I have checked, these are Bugs and Stories, both are not an issue type of 'Sub-Task'.

2. The only way I believe that I can tell this is, when I click on 'Active sprints' the only one that appears is Milestone 2 - Sprint 7. If I go to the burndown report, I can see multiple sprints prior to this one on there.

3. I haven't done this based off your recommendation.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

Ok, I can't see anything wrong with this.  Could you try re-indexing the project?

Charlie Smith June 25, 2019

I'm using Jira Cloud, it doesn't seem like there is an option to re-index. Thank you for your help anyway, much appreciated.

Nic - the issue was that in the workflow, there was a post function that had been duplicated. I was unable to remove it, due to it being 'greyed out', I therefore raised a Jira support ticket and it has been removed. I can now see the Burndown working. I've provided a screenshot of the duplicated post function below:
