Yes, you can change the Epic to Feature.
Go to Settings > Issues > Issue Types.
Click the 3 dots to the right of the Epic and select Edit. There you can change the name.
Hi, the foundational issue types out of the box cannot be changed. You can create another issue type to function as an Epic and name it as you like.
IF you are a JIRA Admin-- Go to Administration.
Issues, Issue Types, and click on Add issue Type.
Provide a name and description and for Type-chose Standard Issue Type.
I prefer to create a set of screens specifically for my custom issue type.

Yes, you can change the name so that the functionality stays at that level. You can change the name of the Epic to Feature and then create a new Issue Type and call it Epic and place it at level 2. This is Atlassian's recommendation.
