Can customize my issues?

jon miller June 12, 2018

Right now Jira give  default issue fields, such as all, open, closed, done, in progress. is it possible to customize them, i.e. make new, rename, delete?

Thanks,

Are you wanting different issue type?  Go System Administration > Issues > Issue types.  There you can modify the stock types or add more.

I believe I did that. There are only two issue types there but on the other part is still see all the default ones and none of the custom ones i added.

Once you have all of your Issue types, and custom fields, you'll need to build your screen schemes.  I believe this article should direct you in the correct location.  My colleague, @Jonny Adams, is better versed in setting those up.

Hi, You can add statuses here Go to -> JIRA Administrator (on the top RHS of the board) ->  Select 'Issues' -> Issues Attributes -> Statuses -> Add status

jon miller June 13, 2018

is it possible that the field is called something different? i see nothing called jira attributes.

Amrita Nair June 13, 2018

It's Issue attributes. Hope the attached pics help. Let me know if you could find it.

Got it. i found it but when i change the names or add new status when i go to the issues tab i still see the same ones , i.e. open, done, viewed, created, all, etc. I even changed the name of the done to closed contracts but it still shows up as done. Does it seem like im missing something?

Hi, That's probably because you haven't added the new status to the workflow. In the projects panel, edit the workflow to add the new status as well and it would start showing up. The links shared by Meg have the steps in detail.

Cheers

Hi Jon, welcome to the community.

In order to create new statuses, you will need to go into your project's workflow and edit from there. In this space, you can also add new statuses from this area.

Here are some useful articles:
