We're using JIRA internal user directory with LDAP authentication.
When trying to add a user to a project it will give an error "We can't find '<username>' in any accessible user directory. Check they're still active and available, and try again."
The user is active however and can login with SSO in JIRA.
Any tips on where I could look to fix this problem? Let me know if you need more information or details.
What I have done as a workaround is create a new group. Put the users who can't be added to the project directly into this group and then add the group. This works without a problem and the users can access the project now.
Still kind of annoying to work around this.
That's a good workaround, I'd suggest to raise a ticket to Atlassian support to understand the issue though!

Hi Tim, I have the same problem, but I need put the non-see user into the proyect lead. In this case the workaround isn't available.
Hav you found any solution?
Thanks!

Hello @Tim Dame,
Is there a non-breaking space on the particular username? There is known bug: Trailing non-breaking space in user's USER_KEY causes error when adding user to a project role, you can watch it to be updated - in the meantime, there is a workaround suggested in the ticket.
Hope this helps,
- Manon

Hi, thanks for your answer. Unfortunately there's no non-breaking space in the username. I did try the workaround (worth trying) but that didn't help.

Have you checked the logs (atlassian-jira.log)?

Hi @Tim Dame,
Can system administrator find the User information in User management?
Does he belong to any group?

Hi, thanks for your answer.
Yes the user can be found in user management. You can even find them when trying to add to a project role. Only when I press add will it give the error.
User is in JIRA-software group and a group we use for giving access to SSO login.

Hi @Tim Dame,
I've never had a similar problem, but if allowed to restart the Jira service, see if can fix it
