Hello,
For Project Management purposes, I'd like to use the value of different fields to calculate a project's deviation.
One of the values I need is the original estimate. I've tried to copy the value to custom fields of different types, even I was pretty sure it would fail.
What I need is to convert the OE to a number to use it on my function. Can anyone help me with this?
Regards,
Pablo
Hi Pablo,
Can you please elaborate on what exactly do you need this for? You mentioned project deviation, so are you trying to estimate using PERT?
If so, I recommend that you use this app: PERT calculator
If you are looking for some field calculations, you might want to try this one: Jira calculator
Hope this helps
Josh

Thx Joshwa, but as I replied to Nic I've found the way to work with the OE as a number.

The display you you usually see is "prettified", but most methods of "getting" the original estimate will return a number. Depending on what you're doing, you could see the "pretty" result, but more often, you'll get a number of minutes or milliseconds.
So, where are you trying to do this and what is your code trying to read?

Hi, thx for your interest.
I've no budget nor resources to work on this, so I've been trying to use "out of the box" functionality or free plugins to calculate the project deviation.
So, for the calculated field I'm using JIRA Misc Custom Fields and, this morning, surfing their documentation, I've found the way to use the value of the OE in my function.
Thanks again!
