Embedding Jira Issue Viewer/Editor in a proprietary web app

Kalindi Pathare August 19, 2019

Hi,

We have a scenario where majority of the work done across the company is managed in an internal proprietary web app.

The web app does not offer custom issue capabilities (which are a huge requirement for the complex programs our teams are managing) and is not accessible to vendors. Our teams need the custom issues capabilities and a seamless way to work with internal teams who use the web app and vendors.

We are considering a Buy-Configure-Integrate With Web App solution.

Is there a Jira Viewer/Editor that can be embedded in the web app? Or can we use a Jira Issue URL to launch a Jira issue viewer/editor? That way the vendors can access issues through Jira and internal teams can access the same issues through the internal web app

Appreciate guidance on this scenario.

Thanks,

Kalindi

As far I know there isn't anything like that. You can still achieve this rest api.

Basically you would create a form in your web app and pull jira data through rest api. You would probably reinvent JIRA if you have complex workflows or lot of fields.

I suspected the complication - guess would be easier to display Jira issue information, but have users click link and edit issue in Jira.

Thanks for the insights!
