Extract assignee of statuses using smart values

rajeswari saravanan September 9, 2024

Hi Team,

We do have options to choose previous assignee in automation rule. But I need to fetch value of the assignee used in between status.

eg-

we do have

code review —> ready for test —> In test —> testing complete —>dod review

In this, when we are moving to DoD review ,I want the assignee whom its been assigned in code review status using smart values (automation rule) please guide us in this.

Any help much appreciated.

Below is the thread for previous assignee-

Hi @rajeswari saravanan ,

Not sure there is an easy way to query the history of the ticket to be able to fetch who the assignee was when it was transitioned earlier on in the worklow.

I think I would have solved this by storing that user in a separate field (Reviewer) upon leaving code review status and then used this field to repopulate the assignee in the step to DOD review.

Maybe someone else have a very neat script to add to the advanced section of the edit issue field action.

Hi @Lisa Forstberg

Thanks for your reply.

In this we have some blockage, we are not doing any customisation for some of the projects,so we are using automation rule only to do some changes. So we need some smart values to fetch history using automation rule if possible

Hello @rajeswari saravanan ,

I agree with Lisa. You can use a text field. Whenever assignee get updated, you can copy the assignee value to that field.

You can also use automation to copy the value of assignee.

In advance mode, smart value will be: {{assignee.displayName}} in that text field. Ref: https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/jira-smart-values-users/
