Field configuration

Hello! Please tell me. If I change the status of field to "request" in the page "field configuration", would these changes go through all my Jira where this field is used or just only throug the scheme?

Hi,

Any change made in the field configuration will only impact projects using that field configuration (through the field configuration scheme if your version includes that).

In jira cloud version, If I am adding story point field to the primary fields ..it is not showing in the issue screen ..I was able to do so before.

Any changes rolled out?

You need to check 3 prerequisites : 

• The field (Screens) is present on the issue screen
• The field is configured (Field configurations) visible on the field configuration
• The custom field (Custom fields)configuration is allowed for this issue type

Also if you are an admin you could check "where is my field"  :

But one issue is still left which is I have two fields. One is story points(custom) and other is story point estimations(Default). 

I am able to see story points in create issue screen and Old issue view screen. but in new issue view it is showing story points field as story point estimation field. So suppose I select both in my issue layout. I see Story point estimation field twice. While I see the same screen in old view it displays correctly. how to rectify Thanks in advance.

Hi @Vijaya ,

Check your screen scheme and edit the screen used for issue view. You will be able to remove unwanted fields.

Hi Antoine, thanks for your input. I can remove unwanted fields but I am getting different caption in my desired field. how it must have been changed. I have checked field configuraion it looks fine. Also in Create issue and old detail issue view fields are appearing as expected. Only issue is in view/Edit issue screen.

I am not sure to understand, could you attach a screenshot of the screen mapped to "view issue" and a screenshot of an issue ?

As I mentioned the same field is reflecting correctly in Create issue and Old issue detail view.

Hi, after further investigation it indeed seems that Story points estimate is a new jira cloud agile system field. So it has appeared without notification. It is indeed advised to use only one Story points field. Check these topics

You should be able to hide it either in "Custom fields", in "Screens" or in "Field configuration".
