Check the system addon that provides it is enabled.
I am new to JIRA .... Don't know anything about add-ons and don't have admin rights to view anything at that level. How do I tell my JIRA admin which add-on provides the "Filter Results Gadget" ? How do I tell if the add-on I need costs money I have to get allocated and approved

Right, JIRA isn't actually just a monolithic application with an addon framework. It's a pile of core functions with an addon framework, and the off-the-shelf product is actually the core plus a huge pile of "system" addons. If you stripped the addons out, you'd have no gadgets, no custom fields, no project panel reports, no exports, and it would be pretty much unusable. So, your admin needs to look in the *system* addons section of "manage addons", as filter results is one of the bundled addons that are part of the standard distribution. (This also means no money is involved, it's part of what you've already installed and licenced)

Hi Nick, I'm Bill's admin. I can't find which plugin in the list contains "filter results" feature. You mentioned that its part of one of the bundles. I tried googling to figure it out. Do you know which one?

Ok, it is called something like "Jira - plugins - gadget plugin" and (from memory) the "module" you want is stats-gadget (if that's wrong, try just looking for "stat" in the module list, as its real name is "filter statistics")

Nic. Thanks. I did find the gadget, and the module called "Filter Results". It is enabled. Whats next?

Ok, then it should be available. I would - start tailing the atlassian-jira.log file (so I can see if errors go into it when I perform the next few steps) - Log into Jira and go to my dashboard - Click add gadget - Filter the list by typing in "statistics" I'd expect whatever is causing the lack of gadget will throw it's error into the log somewhere during that, almost certainly as you pop up the "add gadget" list

The last comment I gave 5 years ago still stands - you're going to need to read the logs to see what happens when you list and try to add the gadget?

Hmm, I missed Bill's follow-up, probably during one of the phases where Answers email had died, so we weren't being notified of responses. He's not yet looked at the modules, but you have, and if they're all enabled, the next question is "is your missing gadget on the list of modules"? I suspect it probably is, so the next step is to start reading the log file to look for errors on gadgets - the gadget should be on the list if the modules are enabled.

No its not there , so just wanted to confirm whether Atlassian has removed it from the package. Is the any way to add it back to the list because its in use. Thanks, Sumit

How, exactly, do I give you that full list of available gadgets. There is not a print or display option and a "cut and paste" is not really doable on a scrolling screen.
Do you have a service option where I can screen share with a representative to facilitate troubleshoot ??

Ok, try "add a gadget", click the "all" button, and then you can grab the text from the right hand pane. (All gives me a lot of options, so I've clicked JIRA to shorten it in the list below) I'm still not convinced you have the right addon/modules enabled - would it be possible to take a good look at Manage Addons -> System addons and find the one called "Atlassian JIRA - Plugins - Gadgets Plugin". I was off several days for a "family emergency". Back now. Nic, where are we on getting this resolved. We keep bouncing back and forth. Isn't there someone at Atlassian who can tell Tom and I what to do

They are going to tell you the same - the only way to remove the filter results is to turn it off in the addon list. What, exactly, is the full list you are offered when you click "add gadget" on the dashboard?

Not that then. It must be disabled modules then.

On the Custom Dashboard in question, only 13 available additional gadgets are listed. My Custom Dashboard currently contains only: Quick Links, Introduction and Favorite Filters gadgets

There's definitely a series of gadgets missing from your installation. The (system) addons that provide them must have failed to load or have been disabled. Definitely need to get Tom to check all the addons and read the log files for gadget related errors!

Oh, one other thought though - are you on a really old version of JIRA that doesn't have many gadgets?

I followed the steps -
Log into Jira and go to my dashboard
- Click add gadget
- Filter the list by typing in "statistics"
UNEXPECTED, got the UI response that "No results found" try......
How does my admin (Tom Cole) access the atlassian-jira.log file (so I can see if errors go into it when I perform the next few steps)

The log file is under <jira home>/logs on the server. How many gadgets are listed when you go into the list before you filter it though? 47 ish?

Nic,
My Admin (who is also my boss) navigated to the area that you described. However, he tells me : 1) There is no bundle called "standard distribution" and 2) no bundle designating "filter results" and 3) there are "hundreds of bundles to enable. Question is "which one is correct ?"
