How to add an issue scheme to a next gen project template?

Harrison Tyner April 25, 2019

I am unable to add any issue schemes I have created to a next gen kanban project template.

When I go to add the association, my project is not in the available list of projects to apply the scheme to. I see this warning which may have something to do with it...

"You can't associate independently-created projects with this issue type scheme."

Hello,

That is right. You can not add a global issue type scheme to a next-gen project. You need to setup issue types in each next-gen project.

It's very hard to see this kind of impediments in Jira. As administrators it should be possible to setup projects according specific needs. I feel as I had my hands tied, because there are interesting features only in classic and only in new generation, that I can't use because of the project type I chose.

what about creating custom sub-tasks? This is an option for older project types but for next gen when creating project issue types, there doesn't seem to be a way to create a custom sub-task. We have at least two that we use: "dev sub-task" and "bug sub-task".
