How to create a field to display the current issue status.

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know a way to set up a custom field to display the current issue status so that it will automatically update whenever the status is changed?

Thanks

David

I think we're missing some context here.

What's wrong with using the status field display?  That changes when the status is changed.

Thanks Nic,

It's a request from my client, I'm not sure how it will be used but they intend to use it for tracking in some way, possibly as a field that can be exported to word and then be printed. To be honest i'm not sure, but I wanted to see if that script was readily available.

Thanks,

David

You could write a scripted field to do it as described, but all it would do is (pseudocode)

return issue.status

Which can already be exported and printed, and you can get from the status of the issue.  I'd want to ask your client for more detail, as the requirement seems to be "repeat stuff you already have".  I suspect something has been lost in translation or repetition
