×We recently upgraded our Jira to 7.9.2 and now whenever I perform a JQL search and copy a specific field on the JQL result, I can no longer do it and I want the old feature back. How do I perform highlight and copy+paste on the new version?
Please refer to the screenshot ss1.png as I try to highlight a field it have a drag and drop event behavior compared to ss2.png that uses old jira version that I was able to highlight a field
Apparently this is reported as a bug already. Here is the link to the Atlassian ticket: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-66473
There is a workaround identified, but it involves the use of a "dark feature." Hope this helps!
Michael,
To clarify, you just want to highlight one of the field results and copy it, such as the summary, correct?
I'm testing with a Jira version 7.11 currently and if I hover my cursor over the field value, right-click and select "copy" then it selects the text and copies it without having to drag my cursor.
Can you try this solution and let me know if it solves your issue?

Shannon

I'm having the same problem as Michael in 7.9.2. Right-clicking does not bring up the option to "copy" text. If there is a link, then it gives you the option to "copy link" but that is all.

Hi Jeanette,
Thank you for posting the bug about drag-and-drop in the issue navigator list.
As for copying and pasting the field text, I'm testing this now on 7.9.2 (earlier was 7.11.*) and I am still able to copy and paste text. The drag-and-drop might have an effect on it if you're attempting to click and drag, but for me it works without clicking and dragging.
Can you confirm which browser you're testing this in? I'm currently using the latest stable release of Chrome.
Regards,
Shannon

I've tried the copy/paste functionality on the following browsers (versions):
I've had no success copying any text. It only gives me the option to copy the link where applicable, and nothing else. Several of my other Jira users have experienced the same limitation in the copy/paste functionality.

Thank you for confirming, Jeanette.
I see since you're using IE and Edge that you must be on a Windows computer. I don't have access to one but it seems that they removed several right-click menu items, including the ability to Copy.
However, the workaround you mentioned involving the dark feature, did you try that yet? Once you disable the feature you will be able to copy again as expected in Jira.
It is possible to disable the dragging of subtask through the use of a dark feature.
- Login to Jira as an administrator
- Navigate to $JIRAbaseURL /secure/SiteDarkFeatures!default.jspa
- add the value of com.atlassian.jira.issuetable.draggable.disabled to the enable dark feature and click Add
However this will prevent the dragging of these subtasks both on the issue details page and through the issue navigator. Note: In the issue details view you will still see the up and down arrows that can be used to rearrange the order of these subtasks.
Let us know how it goes!

Thanks, Shannon!
Yes, I did try the workaround yesterday and confirmed with my users that it resolved the right-click copy issue. I also confirmed that we will still be able to rearrange the order of subtasks by using the arrows instead of the drag-click functionality (once disabled). Things seems to be working as they were before we upgraded to 7.9.2 (previously on 7.3.0).
Thank you to Atlassian for providing a workaround.
