How to invite a user who has their own JIRA account

Matkat Music LLC January 26, 2020

Hi there.  I run a C++ Programming course and the final part of the course involves working in a JIRA-based audio plugin project.  I would like each of my students to set up their own JIRA accounts, create the Project Board, and add me to it as an admin, so I can create all of the different parts required to complete this project.   I already have my own JIRA account that I pay for.

Is it possible for them to add me to their project without being charged for having 2 users on the project (because I already have my own JIRA account)?

If so, how?

Well if you can use Cloud then there is a free version. while it has some limitations it may very well work for you.

Thanks.  One of my students signed up for the free one and added me.  looks like we're up and running, barring the ability to make branches from Jira in the bitbucket repo.  But I think that's because they haven't granted JIRA access to their repo yet...

@Jack Brickey Can the free version interact with bitbucket repos?

i cannot say definitively (I don't work for Atlassian) but the pricing page I referenced has a check for apps and integrations. My bet is that it surely will. Easy enough to try and see.

Nevermind, we got it worked out.  They hadn't integrated their repo with jira.  once they did, we can make branches and whatnot right from JIRA.  thanks!
