Hey Community,
I want to read out excel files like invoices or regular data. Instead of copy and paste I want Jira to read out this data from my excel file automatically and paste the information in the specific ticket. The only solution that I found was to convert it to CSV, but is there another/better/automatic way to solve that problem?
Thanks in advance!
Hi @Maxim Bayer, welcome to the Atlassian Community.
If you have your data already in an excel file, it's natural to save it as a CSV to import it since Jira offers this option natively. You will find apps that might help you with the ingestion of excel data. However, in your case, why is the CSV option not working?
Hey @Ivan Lima,
because it is not just data in my excel file, I had some problems with the CSV import and then export to Jira.

You might be familiar with the documentation by now, but if you haven't had a chance to look at it, I encourage you to go through the Importing data from CSV and How to export issue and comment in CSV with proper format to import in Jira. Also, you can share the problems you're facing along with a sample of your CSV file so we can better assist you with that.
You can import your issues using the CSV external system import, which requires Jira administration global permission using the method from the link above, or via Creating issues using the CSV importer, which works as a bulk issues creation.
Alternatively, you can explore different apps at Atlassian Marketplace that can help you with the import/export of issues using Excel files.

Yeah so the main problem is that I just want certain data of my excel on Jira. And if I do it via the csv Converter, it’s not really automatically.
so I want a plugin that automatically recognizes the important data and shifts it to Jira.

Inevitably, you would need to "teach" your app or the importer what data is important so that once it learns it, it will be able to recognize it for future syncing. To some extent, the CSV importer does that if you save the configuration file. Again, I recommend exploring the apps I shared previously, Atlassian Marketplace; you will find the feature you're looking for, or at least very close.
