I am trying to import issues from CSV, but I can't get it to pass validation to map assignees. I've tried using the display name and email address to no avail. It seems this needs to be the username, yet Atlassian has made those impossible to find. How can I get this to work?
I think typically the "username" in cloud is whatever comes before the domain of the email address.
So in my case, "kstack@mumosystems.com" would become username kstack.

@Kian Stack Mumo Systems - I am using CSV import and want to assign existing JIRA users to the assignee field. Should the Assignee column in the csv contain their JIRA usernames ?
Thanks!

Hey @Josh Varga
Below is a link for importing data via CSV. Bullet point 13 should help you get what you need.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!

It says "If you are importing a username-based CSV field (e.g. Reporter or Assignee) and you do not select the Map field value checkbox for this field in the previous step of the CSV file import wizard, then the importer will automatically map imported usernames from the CSV file to (lowercase) Jira usernames."
I don't understand how this is supposed to help. I don't know what the usernames are. The data in the import is most closely associated with display names (but not quite).
"Regardless of whether or not you select the Map field value checkbox, Jira will automatically create usernames based on the data in your CSV file if they have not already been defined in Jira."
It's actually giving me errors in the validate stage (I'm not ready to do the import yet). And I don't want it to create new users, I want it to map to existing users.
