I need to enable Resolution Field

Christian Puzder December 28, 2018

I have dug around on the community and cannot find an answer to this ...

Previously, when an issue was closed, the issue number had strikethrough. I liked this, I am the project owner.

Recently, that just stopped working, and I do not know why. Now, I cannot add the Resolution Field to my Issue screen.

Any guidance would be helpful

Hey Christian,

Best practice is to put a trigger or screen on the transition to where a resolution is required.

Hope this helps,

Tyler

Thanks Tyler ... and how do I do that? I used to have a PM that would do this stuff, but in my new venture, well, its just me managing Jira.

Thanks

Hey Christian,

This documentation should help you out:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/advanced-workflow-configuration-776636620.html

You will be looking to add a post function to set the resolution.

Also you will need to be a system admin to complete this work.

Hope this helps,

Tyler

Thanks Tyler

I did not see an option for what I need. Previously, when a story was closed in the backlog, the story number had a strikethrough. This was super helpful for me (product owner) to know which stories have been fully tested and closed.

Now when a story is closed, there is no strikethrough. I avae spent weeks going through the settings trying to find something helpful here and I can and my searches have not returned any valuable results.

Thanks!

Hey Christian,

That likely means that a Resolution is not being set.

There are a couple of options to help set a Resolution.

One is to create a screen with the Resolution field on it, and place it on the transitions where you want to set a Resolution.

These guides should help with that: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/defining-a-screen-938847288.html

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/mapping-a-screen-to-a-workflow-transition-720634253.html

The other is to add a post function to set a Resolution automatically on your desired transitions.

This should help with that:

NEVER add it to the edit or create screen. It is REQUIRED whenever presented. The field isn't enabled. It may be on a screen that used to be displayed on the close transition and isn't now.
