Is Jira version 7.7 a good target version to upgrade to?

Donald Skanes January 30, 2018

Is 7.7 too new or should I wait for 7.7.1?

Dear @Donald Skanes,

my experience with fresh released software is always to wait. If one version is out for 2 or more weeks, it has not caused too many issues. Best you have a look on Atlassians Jira. There you can search for the version 7.7. and see how man bugs are already known and how serious they are.

Btw: the above approach is valid for other products, too. Not only from Atlassian.

So long

Indeed, whilst I'd test 7.7.0 and show it to the users so they can see new things, I would rarely put it into production.  Either a lot of rigourous testing would have to happen, or we'd wait to see what the community reports as problematic in it and make a call on 7.7.1 or 7.7.2

A couple of fixes in 7.7.1.

I have been administering SCM tools for more years than I want to discuss and the new release syndrome has been there for ever. "DevOps" has not fixed anything in regards to releasing SCM tools with quality. Such a shame.
