We currently have Jira Software and would like to deploy Jira Service Desk. The problem we are running into is that we have JSD and JSW on different servers connected via appliaction link. Now when we go into JSD for an issue and "create linked issue", it doesn't show the projects we have permission for in JSW.
Did we misunderstand the ability to create issues in other projects?
Ah, yes, the link is for creating issues in projects in the same system. It doesn't create issues on other systems.
The general intention is that you'd put JIRA Service Desk on the same JIRA you've added Software to.
You can still create a link to another JIRA, it's just not automated and won't create (unless you do a bit of coding)

Hello, so there is no intention to support creating a linked issue from cloud-based JIRA Service Desk to a server-based JIRA instance?
Is there a (payed) plugin to accomplish this action?

Not that I know of.
I'd use a webhook to try to poke data across, but there might be an add-on in the marketplace too.

I'm sorry, just to discuss the subject, i never try this but:
what if you set an application link between cloud and server:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/link-to-server-apps-from-cloud-744721656.html
And the try to link the issues according to this doc:

I have tried this and you can create an issue in JSD then link it to a project in JSW. You cannot create an issue in JSW from JSD. (Create linked issue) Seems like something you should be able to do but speaking with Atlassian support, they recommended Exalate (third party add on) which isn't ideal for us, but may be for you.

Yes, the links are fine, it's the creation part you don't get.
