Is there a custom field type called "message field for edit"

steven rothenberg April 5, 2019

I've read about this custom field type but don't see it available in my list of field types and when I Googled "custom field types in Jira" I did not see it listed.  I am just tying to put a read only text field on a screen, but have read through the community that choosing this type of field is not going to do what I want.

@steven rothenberg The custom fields "message for edit" and "message for view" , belong to JIRA Toolkit plugin for JIRA, which is a free plugin: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/5142/toolkit-plugin-for-jira?hosting=server&tab=overview

You just need to install this in your JIRA instance and use the available custom fields as you need on your project screen.

Thanks, Taranjeet - this set me in the right direction. I will ask my sys admin if we have that plugin installed.
