Today we have discovered an issue in Jira: When one of our devs edited the Description field of a given Jira ticket, upon hitting the Save button, all of the formatting in the Description field is completely lost.
We go to painstaking efforts to ensure that all of our Jira tickets are easy to read. For example, in the ticket where this bug was demonstrated to me (with a 100% reproduction) the Description field had Bold headings, paragraphs, code snippets and even colored fonts to help communicate the detail of the issue to be resolved.
To COMPLETELY lose ALL formatting, all I had to do was to go into the Description field, enter a single space and hit the save button. Then ALL of the formatting of the description of this ticket was completely lost.
Please help! Is anyone else experiencing this bug? Is there a fix on the way? This is very painful for our team as we are constantly updating tickets with new information all the time. If we are going to lose all of the formatting of every ticket we edit, then this is going to create a massive amount of work to revisit each of these edited tickets.
This problem still exists today in Jira Cloud
Enough to add one single space character to the existing description field content, and all formatting getting lost in the field before clicking the Save button.
I have to redo my added text, or I have to reformat description field each time I update content.
Relevent, but closed ticket I found: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-17522

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the reply. Similar, but not what we were experiencing.
I have just tried to reproduce the issue and for some reason it is not happening now. I will continue to keep an eye on this issue and provide screenshots should it happen again in the future.
Very strange indeed.
Regards,
Jason
