JIRA and Confluence via Oauth

We are interested in connecting our on premise JIRA and Confluence to Okta via Oauth (instead of trying to manage the SAML connector.) Is this an option?

What other authentication protocols ls are supported? We know of LDAP

Yes, you can connect your on-premise JIRA and Confluence to Okta via our OAuth/OpenID apps for JIRA and Confluence.

Okta has support for OAuth, OpenID, and OpenID Connect (OIDC) protocol. You can use one of these protocols to authenticate users into JIRA and Confluence.

As @mfabris mentions you are probably looking for OpenID-Connect (OIDC) login to Jira / Confluence. There are several marketplace apps supporting this: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?query=openid%20connect

Hello Scott

I am not a big expert but for sure OAuth is supported (Open ID Connect protocol).

There are some fairly priced plugins that will take care of the authentication.

Ideally you can use your IdP for creating users via API calls, and for logging in into the platform you can use either one of these plugins or you can write one yourself. The complicated part is syncing all the access rights. For example if you are using many groups for facilitating access to the different projects, you might want to keep the management of the groups in Jira, outside of your general users directory.
