Jira Core version after upgrade of Jira software

David Urquhart December 19, 2018

Hello

We have upgraded from Jira 7.3.2 Jira 7.6.10

However under settings application we are seeing the message

"JIRA Core must be updated to be compatible with this version of JIRA Software."

The page says we have Jira Core 7.6.10 and that JIRA Core 7.13.0 is now available

We were under the impression that the version of Jira and Core are in sync

So what is going on here?

Hello,

The problem is that you can not just update the Jira Software application. You should also update the Jira Core application.

You can find more info on how to update correctly here:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/ug/best-practices-guide-for-upgrading-jira-software-server-933696757.html

Basically, you would need to download the full distribution of Jira Software and launch the upgrade process.

Right now I guess you downloaded Jira Software as an application. You can only install this kind of distribution to Jira Core, which has the same version with your Jira Software.

so are you saying that Jira Core 7.6.10 and that JIRA Core 7.13.0 are compatible, i thought core and server versions were in sync.

We downloaded this atlassian-jira-software-7.6.10-x64.bin and installed it

I am not sure what you mean by core and server versions.

I am saying that you can not install Jira Software 7.13.0 on Jira Core 7.6.10. You need to upgrade Jira Core to 7.13.0 as well.

Hi we have upgraded to Jira software 7.6.10 and Jira is advising us to upgrade to Jira Core 7.13.0

Ah, I see. If you do not want to upgrade, then do not upgrade. Just 7.13.0 is the latest version and 7.6.10 is a bit outdated.
