Hi! I'm trying to change the issue type from one sub-task type in the same project and keep the watcher. Move Issue wizard will pop up and ask for watchers, even when it is the same field in both issue types, I have to manually put in the watcher's list (copy and paste doesn't work either). Is it possible to transition over the existing watcher?
Hello, Airb, welcome to the community!
I'm investigating what seems to be the exact same problem but I could not get to the root cause just yet.
Do you happen to have any plugins related to the Watcher field such as the now defunct "Jira Watcher Field"?
To clarify, it is not expected to request the watcher list when moving the sub-tasks - they should be moved automatically since the Watcher field is expected to be on both field configurations.
Hey Filipi, thanks for your replay. I agree I also wouldn't expect to update the watcher when moving the sub ticket. We don't use any plugins at all.

On the case I was working on, when the plugin was disabled the problem stopped.
I know there are some limitations around Issue Security and Watchers such as what is requested here:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-45488
Are you using Security Levels as well?

You may want to look again at your plugin list for the watcher plugin.
In terms of a workaround, a user pointed out to me that if they do a bulk move on the sub-task issue, they aren't asked to re-specify the watcher list.
