New Project default settings

tl;dr - new projects are being created with an unwanted user group assigned

we have an issue where new projects are being created with a group assigned to them. this is causing security issues as it permits unauthorised users access to projects!

I can't find default project settings anywhere.. does anyone know how I can remove this permission?

As an admin, go to "roles" and check the default groups selected, you probably want to remove them.

thanks for your response!

Sadly I can't find a 'Roles' section. only 'Project Role Browser' & 'Product access', neither page seems to have default groups.

does it matter than I'm on Cloud not Server?

actually.. we dug a little deeper and found that Client User was added as default, the rogue group was associated with this. Thanks!

for future googlers:

As an admin, press `.` (period) and type Project Roles and hit enter.  Alternatively, the page is under the Security heading on the System page of the Jira settings option.

Once there, click on the Manage Default Members link next to the Project Role Name you want to change.  Click Edit next to the group you want to remove, check the box next to their name and press Remove

The group will need to be manually removed from each project once the change has been, but at least they won't be added automatically to future new projects
