Hi,
I am an admin, I wanted to change dashboards' owner by myself and give permission to view the board for a specific group.
I browse the board -> Shared Dashboard -> Search exact board -> Cog wheel -> Change Owner -> Getting an error (The user 'myjirauser' does not have permission to share with Group: 'xxx-xxx--Products')
Screenshot attached
My goal is to add ACL-GTN-All where -All group is shared with any dashboard.
Can anyone suggest me how to do that?
Regards
Teja
Hi @Teja
First of all you lack the permission to share dashboards. So you have to see if you or a group that you belong has that specific permission:
If you do not have this permission, you add it. If you have it, then move along to the next step.
A dashboard belongs to a user. So you can only assign it to a user. Having said that, you should go to that specific dashboard and share it with the group you want. So go to Dashboards > Your_Dashboard and follow the image below:
But all that isn't enough. You have to make sure that inside your dashboards you share filter that you use in your gadgets with the appropriate group. So you have to go to filters, edit filter and share it with the group.
Let me know if that helps!
Thanks for the quick reply,
Yes, I have the global permission to share dashboards and filters.
I know how to share the dashboard with the group
But my problem is I cannot assign the owner to myself and add a group for viewers.
First of all the dashboard has been created by another user, In order to add a new group for viewers' permission, I need to own the board. That is not possible at this moment because the real dashboard owner has added another group of viewers' permission that I am not part of it, hence I could not able change the owner by myself.
Example:
Owner of shared with the group
-All
ACL-GTN--Products
I am part of -All group but I am not part of ACL-GTN--Products, that's why the error coming up.
I do apologize I was not clear in my earlier question.
Thanks

Can you add yourself to the group you are not a part of?
These groups are created locally within Jira, or are they synced to an external active directory?

That's a bummer,
These groups are created are synched to an external AD. I do not suppose to add myself to the AD group because of company policy. (I know if I become part of that group I can change the owner easily)
This is just an example group we have many groups might have used for view permissions for other boards as well.
Is there any chance we can jump into DB and do the migration for boards?
Thanks

Hello @Teja
Welcome to the Atlassian Community !!
If you want to change the owner then you can change it to the user only, you cannot change the owner into group.
You can add the group and give the viewer and editors permission on your private dashboard. Directly changing the owner to group is not possible.
Let me know in case of any further help.

Thanks for the reply,
Sorry I was not clear.
I wanted to change owner to myself and assign group for viewers' permission.
I could not able to change the owner myself due to the above error.
Thanks

Hello @Teja
Are you the only Jira Admin or anybody else as well?
If there are other jira admins then tell them try to change the owner of the board. I am assuming that you will not be able to change the owner to yourself.
There are two steps:
1) Go to the Dashboard --> Click on Edit and Share --> Add the Groups in the Editors and Viewers
2) Once you are able to add the Group in the viewers and Editors then go to the system setting --> Click on Shared Dashboard --> Search the Dashboard and try to change the owner to yourself.
Let me know in case of any further help.
