Hi all,

I am going to use Jira Server and I would like to set a date (release date) in a custom field equal to the greatest release date between issues with the same label, it is possible?

Thank you.

Hello @Gianni Minicozzi

Yes, that's possible but not without a plugin. You can use "Scripted fields" from the paid plugin Script runner.

To achieve what you want, you will need to do a JQL search within the scripted field code based on the label to fetch all issues with fixVersion which maps to release date and then do a date-comparison to find the greatest release date and then return this value in your scripted custom field.

Thank you very much, @Tarun Sapra!

Just one question, we want to buy "Automation for Jira", do you know if it is possible to do the same thing with this plugin?

Hello @Gianni Minicozzi

"Automation for Jira" is indeed a very good plugin and both Script runner and Automation for Jira provide similar features and for some scenarios you might find Automation for Jira much simpler to use but even though the learning curve of Script runner is steeper than other plugins but it provides much more automation possibilities than any other plugin in the marketplace.

For your use-case I am not aware if it's possible to implement with Automation for jira plugin hence it's best to approach the plugin support team.
