Why can't I assign an issue to a user who is part of a group with permissions?

Chris Koroliov June 12, 2018

Hi Atlassian Community :)

I an the admin in a Jira project and I recently edited the permissions for a project so that 'Assignable User' permission is also granted for a certain group.

I tried to change the assignee on an open issue we have, this user is in the group which I granted the permissions to. When I chose his name from the drop-down menu and clicked to approve, I received the message "User 'XXXX' cannot be assigned issues." (XXXX stands for the user name, it is not the original message)

Does anyone knows why this happens? Should I change any other settings?

HI @Chris Koroliov

Welcome to the community!

To check what is the exact issue here open the issue (Issue view screen ) and click on Admin and then choose permission helper.

Provide the user and the permission so here you will get the more information about the issue.

@Chris Koroliovthis  group must  be given assignable user permission in the permission  scheme or if the developer/any  role has the permission (assignable user)just add the group  to  this role.

Best!

Hi @Chris Koroliov

If you confirm the permission plan and the person's role are correct, can you try to remove this person from the group, rejoin it, and rebuild the index?
