Workflow schemes in NextGen projects - don't appear to have any

Admittedly I am new to Jira - but I want to add a status of 'Hold' to issues in a NextGen project. I can add this new status in Settings, and can alter any Workflow to include the new status, save and apply the workflow. The only problem appears to be that none of my NextGen projects appear in the Workflow Schemes list! This means I cannot apply the workflow scheme with the 'Hold' status to my project.

To add a new status to a Next Gen project all you need to do is add another column to the next-gen project's board. Create a new column on the board page and name it, Hold, when changing an issue's status on the next-gen project it will align to the board's columns.

Thanks so much for helping me with this. Sometimes the answer is staring you right in the face .. and yet it not so obvious. I could make all sorts of other excuses too, by the way - but we shall just put this down to being a newbie to NextGen!
