automatic creation of a case in salesforce when correct fields are entered on the jira side?

Chad_Lei December 20, 2018

If a Jira ticket created without correct Account and Contact IDs, it will not create any case in Salesforce.

Is it possible that when the same Jira ticket is updated with the correct Account ID and Contact ID, a case is then created in Salesforce?

Hello @Chad_Lei,

Can you please share which Jira edition you are using currently? (Server/Cloud)

Atlassian JIRA Project Management Software (v7.10.2#710003-sha1:897b0c4)

Thanks for providing the Jira version @Chad_Lei!

Perhaps you can try this workaround:

  1. Create a new screen in your Jira with the Remote Object Link field(link with Account). Screenshot 2018-12-31 at 15.29.17.png
  2. Create a new status in your Jira project workflow (eg. Create Case status). Also, assign the screen that you have created in Step 1 to this transition.Screenshot 2018-12-31 at 15.26.35.png
  3. Add the *Push To Remote System* post function in the transition for Step 2 and publish the workflowScreenshot 2018-12-31 at 15.27.02.png

With this workaround, when you transition to the Create Case status, a screen will prompt out to ask you input the Salesforce Account, after entering the details, it will trigger the post function and create a Salesforce Case record in Salesforce.

Hope this can help you.

Is this answer the same if I am using the Cloud edition? @Kevin Lew [ServiceRocket]

Hi @Efrat Barak Zadok

The connector that you are currently using should be Connector for Salesforce & Jira Cloud, which is different from the one Chad is using here.

This workaround is not going to work for Connector for Salesforce and Jira Cloud because the connector is missing the Remote Object Link field.
