display a list of subtasks in a subtask

Tatiana April 20, 2020

Hello! Tell me, is there a possibility in a task with the type Subtask to display its subtasks? I see that the list of subtasks is available only for non-subtasks.

Your screenshots do not show sub-tasks of sub-tasks (which is good because Jira does not do that, and if you manage to find the trick that enables you doing it, it breaks in very interesting ways)

I am very sorry, but I have no ability to read non-Latin characters, so I can't be sure, but I suspect you might be using the Structure app, which does let you do something like more layers of sub-tasks (it's not really the layers as you think of them, but it does look pretty close)

Hey, Nic! Thanks for your answer. I prepared screenshots in English. I hope you can see that a task with the subtask type has child subtasks.

Hi Tatiana,

As Nic mentioned, Structure can show hierarchy of sub-tasks if needed, though I do not see evidence of Structure in your screenshots. Should you want to try it or to learn more about it, please, check our Sandbox: http://almworks.com/structure-demo and you can also contact our support if you need assistance in configuring your structures (support@almworks.com)

I’m confused by your request. It seems that you are looking for sub-tasks of sub-tasks which does not exist.

See, a task with the subtask type has subtasks if you build a query in the filter (see screenshot 2), but the task doesn't have subtasks on the form (screenshot 3). For comparison, in screenshot 4, the regular task on the form has subtasks on the form ( at the bottom)

It appears you have the addon Smart checklists and are confusing checklists as Jira sub-tasks. So going back to your question let me try to rephrase your question...

’When viewing a task that has sub-tasks can I have that view also display the underlying checklists of those sub-tasks?’

the answer to which is no AFAIK. You might reach out to the vendor of the addon and inquire further.

It definitely has nothing to do with Smart Checklist. But in case of questions related to our addon - feel free to contact us smartcheckilst@railsware.com

However, it looks really strange when querying for parent=BPM-3804 (which is a subtask) you get set of other issue types.
