If you give the group anyone permission to browse the project and set the share to everyone on the dashboard and any filters that is being used by the gadgets you will be able to share dashboards/wallboards without being logged in to JIRA.

Hi Mikael, is this still a working solution. I have followed the steps above but I am still unable to view without being logged in. Could you also please give further details on 'filters being used by the gadget'. I don't believe I have any, as I am wanting to share my Kanban board. But maybe this is the problem.

@Kirk Stevens yes, this should still be a working solution, except if you are trying to use iframes to display Jira content (within an external dashboard). iframe support was removed in an early version of Jira 7. Because of the iframe issue we are no longer using wallboards, instead we extract the information we need via the REST API and create our own charts from it.

Almost every gadget on a dashboard is using a predefined filter and that filter has to be shared with everyone or the gadget will not work. The same applies to Kanban/Scrum boards, they use filters too.

1. is there a group called anyone?  I don't see that group.
2. does browse mean the same thing as view

I am writing this in March 2019 - I created a wallboard showing several bamboo build plans.  I want to give anonymous access to this wallboard.

The best way to think of this is that the Gadgets render Content based on permissions of the user viewing the dashboard, if the user does not have permissions to view the content the gadget refuses to render to protect the data from being viewed.

So there's no way to restrict permissions to only view one or two dashboards without giving "browse projects" to anonymous users?

That seems completely insane. That can't be correct.

Make your JIRA "public" mode - and then add permission constraints for the rest of your users (or groups).

hmm. this doesn't seem to work for me. Maybe I'm missing something? When I set "public" mode and share a Dashboard with "everyone", I was expecting an anonymous user to be able to select that dashboard from the dashboard-dropdown.

Yes, you can enable global anonymous access but restrict the projects that are viewable externally and would be done in the issue project permission schemes.

The details on configuring anonymous access per project are covered in the documentation here:

Noting:

Anonymous access to view and search for issues in a project

• To allow users to view and search for issues in a project without logging in, add the Anyone group to the Browse Project permission in the permission scheme for the project.
• To make sure anonymous users can't view issues in a project, verify that the Browse Project permission is only granted to existing project roles, groups, users, or Any logged-in user.

I have a dashboard that I've configured to be visible to people who are not logged in.  The dashboard has three widgets - closed vs. open, burndown, and days left in sprint.  The board is viewable, but only the closed vs. open widget displays to non-logged in users.  I realize the other two widgets are dependent on the board (e.g. sprint board) permission, which is set to everyone, and it's filter is set to everyone.  So, I'm stumped as to why those widgets don't display to non-logged in users.  Any suggestions?

I have the exact same problem! Gadget/widgets with a filter, where the permission of the filter is set to Public, are shown in a public dashboard. But no matter what I try, the Burndown or other sprint related gadget/widgets are not shown to public users. 

Hope someone has an anwser.

All sprint related stuff is limited by the JIRA Software licence. The same behavior should occur with users logged in with a JIRA Core license.
