Is there a way to configure JIRA so that a User is only able to see the JIRA Board that the User has been given access to similar to the Projects menu option drop down?
We have created an Active Directory User Group called Guest Group to manage which JIRA Projects Vendors are able to view when they access our Enterprise JIRA instance. Whilst they are restricted to a specific JIRA Project and can only see that JIRA Project listed on the Projects Menu option drop down, the same User is able to see an extended list of board names in the Boards Menu option Drop down by selecting "View all boards" even though they are restricted.
Is there a way to configure the Boards Menu drop down to only list the board/s that the User is permitted to see?
Note: Whilst the User isn't able to see the board content for those boards that are restricted, this isn't ideal as Vendors are able to see from the Board names what initiatives we as a company are busy with.
Dear Chung
Thank you for your valued feedback.
Currently our board shares filters are project specific or Capitec Bank User Group specific. Those JIRA Projects that require Vendors to be able to access them, we set the shares filter to the Guest User Group.
So our concern isn't the visibility of the board content because even though Vendors are able to see the board names from within the Board>View all boards> menu option, when they select any of the boards that isn't shared with the Guest User Group, they are unable to see the content within the boards due to the shares filter as you mentioned.
Our challenge is trying to limit the Guest Group Users to view only one or two board names from within the "View all Board" menu. We don't want ALL boards to be presented on the list of boards even if the Guest Users can't see the content within those boards.
Board's visibility relies on filter permissions. In your case, it could be the board filter > shares are allowed to 'Any logged-in user' hence they are able to visible under 'View all boards'.
Please verify if the filter shares are limited to the specific users you'd configure.
