Support with Oracle RAC Infrastructure?

Hi there,

our DBAs want to change the whole ORACLE-Infrastructure in our company and they asked us if Jira and Confluence are able to connect to an Oracle-RAC Infrastructure.

They said: RAC means that the database is active with read/write access on two database-servers.

I tried to find something "official" in the documentation but without success.

So the question @atlassianand @community:-)
Is Oracle-RAC infrastructure supported or even possible?

Jira and Confluence both require a single database connection. They don't actually care what is on the other end of the connection, so you can run whatever you like. As long as there's a Java driver for the datasource so you can connect to it, and it's a single connection, Jira and Confluence will be happy

But. It doesn't matter if you've got a stack of databases on the server in read/write, you must, under no circumstances, let anything write to them other than the application.

In short, I suspect Oracle RAC is supported because it's Oracle. With the caveat that it's a single connection and nothing else writes to any of the databases.

thanks for your answer. Do you know any "official" documentation for Jira from atlassian?

So there is a documentation for Confluence. But not for Jira.

The answer is that "although it's working fine as far as we can tell, it is not officially supported".
