Upgrade from 6.1 to 6.3 Jira won't start

Liesa Pugsley February 22, 2015

I have upgraded my JIRA system from 6.1.6 to 6.3.15.

When I try to start JIRA, I get the following error:

SEVERE: Servlet.service() for servlet [action] in context with path [] threw exception [java.lang.StackOverflowError] with root cause
java.lang.StackOverflowError

I am not getting a path for the error.  I am running under Windows with Java 7.

I fixed this issue which turned out to be a memory problem.

I changed the allocation of memory to the windows service and it is working now.

Hi Liesa,

Do you get any more information about the problem in the atlassian-jira.log file in the <jira-home-dir>/log directory?

Or in the catalina.out log file in the <jira-install-dir>/log directory?

Best regards,

Peter
