XML Backup before project switching workflow schemes

Tom Mysliwiec March 17, 2014

I want to change a project's workflow scheme. The project has already been in use with its current workflow scheme for about a year, so there are many, many issues in various states. JIRA (wisely) advises to "contact a System Administrator to create an XML backup". Since this is the OnDemand product, who do I contact to make that happen before I proceed?

No one. Click on admin > import/export, use the backup option then download the file it creates

Perfect, I was able to backup and save the zip file. Thank you.

And, if it all hits the fan, and I need to reimport, I assume I would walk through the steps under "JIRA Import"?

Yes, but I doubt you'll need it - the backup is more to a) keep a copy of the workflow and b) give you something to refer to if you think you might have damaged it. Even if you completely mangle your workflow, it's generally easier and nicer to fix it and carry on that revert to a backup!
