auto status update

I have created a workflow with the first status is "New".  Then transition to a status of "To Do". 

Is there a way when I move the task from backlog into a sprint it auto updates the status from "New" to "To Do"

Give me some time I will try it out and let you know. We can also use "Automation for jira" every time we need not do change the status manually.If we write in any rule that can do this will let you know.

Since statuses are present in the workflow try out some post functions in the transition level.

I am pretty new to Jira.  I am not sure which post function I should update to have the status go from New to To Do when i move it from backlog and place into a sprint
