I need to delete a user account to make room for a new employee; I've deleted or unassociated all other content (issue reporter, issue assignee, component owner, project lead, etc) from the account in question, but Jira indicates that there are lots of issue comments associated with this old account. I don't see a way to search issues based on comment author, so I need your help. How can I get a list of all issues where this person left comments? I can't delete his account until these comments are wiped. Thanks!
Jeff's idea of deactivating the user by removing them from application access instead of all out deleting them did the trick.

You can view JIRA Comment Toolbox . You can delete all comments of the selected user or update author of the comment to an other user.
Moreover, you can use JIRA Comment Toolbox for these;

Being OCD, just disabling the user isn't good enough. I want to delete the user.
+1 for being able to bulk delete comments or bulk change comment authors.

As its quite old seems the easiest thing would be to deactivate the user by removing them from application access instead of all out deleting them. In this manner the user will no longer count against your license and won't be able to log in

Hi, Jeff. It's in Administration/User Management. Clicking on the Delete link next to the user in question pops up a little window which lists things in the system that relate to the user. For all issues, components and the like, I get a link to click on, which takes me to a list of stuff to work with. The comments line, though, is not hyperlinked.
