On a Jira server when adding processors, what are the guidelines/limits?
On a server with 16 vCPUs with 1 core each, is it better to have 2 vCPU's with with 8 vCores each or 4 vCPUs with 4 vCores?
Just trying to figure out how the Jira server uses the processors and will all 16 processors will be available/useable.
Same question for Confluence and Service Desk and Bamboo.
Hey Gene,
Welcome to the community!
Your question may be better directed at VMware/Virtualisation communities, however I'll try and help you out here.
Typically the vCPU is a representation of a NUMA node on your physical servers. This is used in some environments with the ability to hot-add CPUs to make CPU core scaling easier and really just gives you some further options.
In regards to performance, unless you're pegging virtual machines to NUMA nodes, there won't be any performance drawbacks. Here's a few links which might help you out!
