Show all issues - hidden items by default

Is there a way to "Show all issues" by default on a Jira board?

I have a minor problem in Jira that has caused embarrassment on multiple occasions.

When I'm viewing the backlog on a board, there might be hidden issues.  If I scroll about halfway down, there's the familiar option to "Show all issues."

The problem is that if I apply any of my quick filters before I realize there are hidden issues, then these hidden items won't show up at all, and I'm no longer aware that there are hidden items.  Restated: if I don't remember to first scroll down and click "Show all issues" before I apply a filter, I can miss important backlog items that those filters are meant to find.

Ideally, I would like to set my boards to "Show all issues" by default, but I haven't found a setting for this, yet.  Is this an option?

BTW, I see the option to change the number of issues diplayed, under Settings / System / Default user preferences.  But that would make a change for all users in all boards of all projects.  I had hoped for a solution that would only affect specific boards or specific users (me).
