Status/description of the project

Hi, I'm looking for some kind of solution to be able to quickly see the progress on the given project. Either some kind of well-visible signs stating a current status of the project (e.g. everything is going according to the plan, small delay, big delay, risk of missing the deadline, etc.) or simply a field/place which the leader could generally update with the latest progress on the whole project without the need to look into detailed issues. Anybody knows a way to do that?

A starting point is to look at the gadgets available for you to use on dashboards. 

There are reports on Agile projects such as days left in sprint. 

But to look across multiple projects you might simply use the Roadmap gadget which shows a bar chart for each version and the amount completed vs. scope.
