Suggestimate causes slowness

We encountered huge performance downgrade what led to JIRA crash. 

The most time consuming method comes from Suggestimate plugin (com.plugenta.suggestimate.jira.LuceneBackend.searchIssuesByKey) 

Are there any recommendations, which can prevent us from similar situations ?

The latest SuggestiMate version uses a completely different indexing mechanism, and the performance on huge JIRA instances improved drastically. You should no longer experience anything like that, no matter how bug the number of issues or projects is.

From our monitoring tool. In several requests, method searchIssuesByKey took 99% of the execution time.

How do you know that the add-on was the issue? Do you get the issue if you have the add-on disabled?
