I remember, that few version ago when the last subtask where transition on done status, Jira ask user about close the parent. But now this functionality is unavailable. Anyone?

Hello @krzysztofzarebski

Thank you for reaching out.

Unfortunately, Jira Server does not have the functionality to offer the option to close the parent when all its sub-tasks are closed. At least, not in the issue view.

I believe the functionality you remember of is the message prompted when moving sub-tasks using a Kanban/Scrum board of Software projects, as displayed below:

The behavior above happens when the sub-tasks can be directly moved to done (using the Simplified workflow). We even created a feature request to add that same behavior when transitioning issues using the issue view screen itself, however, it was not implemented due to the low number of votes/requests:

When moving the last Sub-Task to a Done status it should prompt to move the parent from the Issue View screen not just the board view

That being said, you can try one of the following options to achieve your need:

  1. Use a simplified workflow with a Scrum or Kanban board to transition your issues
  2. Use a third-party app (as the free Automation for Jira Lite) to automatically transition the parent upon some actions/conditions.

Let us know if you have any questions.
