Hi ,
We are planning to migrate our JIRA to latest version,
as part of JIRA Migration we also need to upgrade the respective platforms of DB, Tomcat ....
I got clear idea on DB platform migration but coming to tomcat platform migration i need your help like
* The steps which I need to follow for tomcat migration.
* How to configure the tomcat acc to jira latest version.
* How do i get tomcat latest version 8.X and install in server.
Could you please help/suggest me to do the best process to follow.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards,
Vijay.
Hi Gurram,
I see that you have some concerns about upgrading/migrating Jira and making sure that you are stilling using a supported platform. I am afraid that there is some confusion over the topic of tomcat here, and I will try to clarify further.
The short version is: You don't need to worry about upgrading tomcat.
The longer version is: When you do an install of any modern Jira version (at least since 7.0.0), the process of installing or upgrading Jira will automatically install the needed version of Tomcat that Jira will use. That wasn't always the case in all deployment types. For example, with Jira 6.x and earlier versions, it was possible to use an EAR or WAR type installation that would let you install Jira to an existing Tomcat container. But since Atlassian as deprecated all support for EAR/WAR Jira versions since the beginning of the 7.0.0, you don't actually have to worry about installing or updating Tomcat first.
I hope this helps to clarify the upgrade process.
Regards,
Andy
