Total Estimate on parent task

When I create a task, I don't want to add an estimate to the Parent task, but I want to add estimates to the subtasks, which in turn should auto update the parent

I have tried to do this in two different ways:

1 Do not add an orgiginal estimate to the parent, and create subtasks accordingly. This kind of works as when work is logged it knocks it off the remaining estimate as well. However the Parent Card still shows an unestimated value, therefrore misleading when looking at the work board

2 Added the total estimate to the parent, and created sub tasks and also added the estimate to those. This doubles up the remaining estimate and doesn't give me what I need

How do I overcome this issue?
