Trying to install plugin and it never finish ...

Hi,

On Jira 7.7 I am trying to install the following plugin: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.awnaba.projectconfigurator.projectconfigurator/server/overview

When I click to upload it from the local disk it stays in the state "Installing projectconfigurator-2.3.4-J7.jar..." forever.

I have tried it on three different browsers but it doesn't change anything - still failing ...

How can I investigate what is wrong ?

Hi @Przemek / Pshemek,

please tail/check your atlassian-jira.log as you start installing the add-on. Do any errors occur?

Maybe you'll be able to find information in both JIRA Support Tool Features:

If you cannot find any problems on the above stated checks, please try to check the proposed resolutions in the following knowledge base article: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-questions/never-ending-quot-downloading-and-installing-quot-in-UPM/qaq-p/364755

Even its topic belongs to Confluence the resolutions do apply to JIRA aswell.
Please try these settings out of business-critical time frames ;-)

Good luck and best wishes

Hi @Christopher Jaksch,

thanks for your feedback !

I have ran the log analyzer and we have some errors but they are not fixed yet:

Re healthcheck: it says that JIRA is using the H2 embedded database. You should migrate to a supported database to ensure your data is safe.

I am going to migrate it soon but cannot at the moment.

While doing the plugin installation I don't have any entries in the catalina.out file.

I also have the following:

# ls -al temp/
total 10628
drwx------ 2 jira root 4096 Apr 3 15:29 .
drwxr-xr-x 15 root root 4096 Mar 15 17:25 ..
-rw-r----- 1 jira jira 8115239 Apr 3 12:26 plugin.881416354497245549.atlassian-universal-plugin-manager-plugin-2.22.9.jar
-rw-r----- 1 jira jira 2703671 Apr 3 12:34 plugin.8848159788765487699.plugin-jira-1.8.11.jar
-rw------- 1 jira root 333 Jan 11 13:11 README.txt
-rw------- 1 jira root 0 Jan 11 13:11 safeToDelete.tmp
-rw-r----- 1 jira jira 41715 Apr 3 12:26 upm-selfupdate3054655017575366135.jar

Should I rename the first one or the two from the top ?

Hi @Przemek / Pshemek,

H2 embedded database could definitly be an issue to consider!

Were you able to successfully install other add-ons yet? Do you use the latest Atlassian Universal Plugin manager on your JIRA app? If not you could try to update UPM first and try the installation of Project Configurator again.

If this does not help, please reach out to the add-on vendor for specific help: https://productsupport.adaptavist.com/servicedesk/customer/portal/37/user/login?destination=portal%2F37

I'd recommend you to migrate your JIRA app to a supported database as H2 db is only for testing purpose.

Good luck and best wishes
