Update JIRA Service Desk 3.2.0 Failed

Erik Liu September 29, 2016

We upgrade our JIRA from 6.4.3 to JIRA 7.0 firstly, then upgrade JIRA to 7.2 . JIRA core 7.2 work well, but we can't install JIRA service Desk 3.2.0 add-on.

  • JIRA 6.4.3 + JIRA Service Desk 2.5.9
  • JIRA Core 7.0.7 + JIRA Service Desk 3.0.10
  • JIRA Core 7.2.0 + JIRA Service Desk 3.2.0

We follow above steps, but failed in last one. Can upgrade to JIRA Core 7.2, but can't install JIRA Service Desk 3.2.0.

Get below exceptions:

ERROR: Unable to extract embedded JAR file. (java.io.FileNotFoundException: /home/jiraprod/jirahome/plugins/.osgi-plugins/felix/felix-cache/bundle219/version0.0/bundle.jar-embedded/META-INF/lib/jsr305-1.3.9.jar (Too many open files))

"Too many open files" look like an OS file system issue. You might need to reduce the number of open files (eg: by reducing the number of processes) or increase the maximum open files setting for your OS.
