I already asked the community for help in another post and they recommended the following article to me. Either I missed it or it is actually not listed whether all the steps are necessary to update an existing test instance.
So my question is, does anyone know how to update an existing instance & if the article tells you, can you skip certain steps?
Cheers
Hi @abnpbz
Which steps do you want to skip?
That article is more about restoring production data to a test instance than about an actual upgrade. Hence the title of the page Creating a test environment for Jira.
If you want to create a test instance with production data you can follow that article. And yes you can skip steps depending on your specific setup.
Some examples:
The article is a great guideline to copy an instance from production to test. If you want to be sure to do it in a decent way I would follow it.
The actual upgrade procedure should not be different than for your production instance.
Thank you for your feedback signal. I'm trying to implement the update with as little effort as possible. Do you think it would work if I implemented steps 1,3,6,7,8,10,11,12 & 13? The background to this is still that the instance exists and is running, but only numerous projects are outdated (including issues, workflows...). Or do you think you can shorten it even further?
Thank you in advance & happy Easter
